Faulks
Elio Rojas Back in March or April, Wants Gamboa Shot By Jhonny Gonzalez WBC featherweight champion "in recess," Elio Rojas (22-1, 13KOs), has already started his preparation to return to the ring. Primitive Cadate spoke to Rojas's agent, Tony Tineo, who says Elio is still seeking a unification with WBA/IBF champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. In February of last year, Rojas successfully defended his crown against Mexican Guty Espadas Jr. by unanimous decision. He was then scheduled to fight Gamboa. He was forced to withdraw to have surgery to correct the problems in his right hand. Tineo is optimistic about the future of the Dominican boxer. He plans to put him in the ring with a tune-up opponent in March or April and then attempt to put his fighter back in line for a unification with Gamboa. Rojas is confident the fight with Gamboa "happens sooner than later." "The important thing is that he started his preparation and we are confident that 2011 will be a great year for Elio Rojas," said Tineo. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=34383
