RINGNEWS24 Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 http://ringnews24.com/media/k2/items/cache/093c3c3b413a9b63c2da8129709e5cf4_S.jpg At Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio, California last night, fringe world-class welterweight Josesito Lopez, 31-6 (18), returned to action by winning a technical decision after eight hard-fought rounds against veteran former world ranked contender, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis, 24-10-2 (11).* It was only Lopez's second fight of the year and following on the heels of three terribly hard fights for him, perhaps it was understandable that his performance was a bit flat.For six rounds this was a straight boxing match, with Lopez unexpectedly trying to match wits with his southpaw Greek opponent.* Josesito was doing okay in this type of fight, despite being floored at the end of the third round.* He was caught on his heels by an Arnaoutis right jab whilst pressing the action and dropped to the canvas.* It had been a round which Lopez was edging, so in an instant it turned from a 10-9 Lopez round to a 10-8 round for Arnaoutis.* This, along with the pattern that the fight was taking, allied to increase Mike's confidence and although he has been losing more than winning recently, he showed that he still has a lot of the skills that took him to a world title fight in 2006.* His footwork was excellent, as he moved nicely around Lopez, catching him coming in with crisp one-two combinations from his southpaw stance.* More...
