Wheelchair
A war of words has broken out between WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto and former three division champ "Sugar" Shane Mosley. Berto attacked Mosley on Twitter, demanding the veteran boxer step aside from a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao on May 7 in Las Vegas. Berto and Mosley are both under consideration to face Pacquiao in May. Juan Manuel Marquez is also being considered. Based on everything that's been said by Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz, and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, Mosley is the frontrunner to get the fight, but a deal has yet to be finalized. Those details have not stopped Berto from stating his case on why he's more deserving of the Pacquiao oppotunity. "You need to go ahead and step aside," Berto told Mosley. "Go sit in your lil old man rocking chair and stir some coffee real slow. I got this. Do you really want to see Pac fight Mosley's old ass? Boxing is looking for that new young fresh face, not grandpas." http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=33903

Wheelchair
If neither gets to fight Manny, maybe they could have a scrap themselves?
RAZZ-MCFC
If neither gets to fight Manny, maybe they could have a scrap themselves? well they were originally supposed to weren't they the first thing they should have done is rearrange that fight but obviously Floyd came calling and Shane couldn't turn it down it'd be a good marker for Berto to see where he really is at IMO

londoner
I would much rather see Pacquiao vs Marquez. So in the meantime Berto and Mosley could potentially fight. I'm glad Berto is getting his name out there and not just hoping things materialise.

edsel77x
Yeah, it's time Berto had a big fight. Yeah against a live opponent. Not someone smaller than him, or on medicare (old poeple's insurance from US)
Skav
Pac should be fighting Berto. There's no excuses. I have no desire to see Mosley fight again.
Faulks
Pacs got major problems as who exactly does he fight? Berto isnt a household name so Arum wont make enough $$$$ Its going to be Shane as he's easier to promote but god i hope not
WelshDevilRob
Berto for me aswell. Manny Pacquiao doesn't need a name opponent anymore - he is the name that sells the fight.
Ton
If the Mosley fight is signed it meets the criteria of Manny's last handful of opponents. Each one of them has suffered a sound defeat within their last few fights before the Pacquiao fight! De La Hoya lost to Floyd Ricky Hatton smashed by Floyd Miguel Cotto beaten by Margarito Clottey beaten by Cotto Margarito smashed by Mosley and now Mosley, sounded beaten again by Floyd! Also in Manny's last 3 fights, it has been against another Arum fighter! Arum is milking Manny for all he can! And since Mosley has had a dispute with GBP, it seems perfect for Arum to snap him up and make the fight!

Put any fighter, even Ray Robinson under the same microscope you are using and I guarantee the luster will quickly come off. The problem with Mosley is that fans are too emotional with very short memory. Mosley look H-A-G-E-R-R-E-D around the edges struggling with Mayorga, but he's one fighter fans have always found reason to make excuses in favor of. Nobody chirped how Oscar had whipped Mayorga before that, or how before him Trinidad had flattened the pock-faced smoker. No, it was all "Shane won"....whoopee, hooray. what's next? In the case of Pacquiao, the glass is always half empty, unless you are Filipino, then it is overflowing. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Pac has been moved extraordinarily well, unlike Mosley, for one. He has moved up, peaked and been positioned to capitalize on the marquee refuse of the period.....and going into each one fans were split on the outcomes. Nobody, or 95% or the fan base was calling for Pac to stop Oscar. Many, many, many figured Cotto too big and too skilled for Pac and openly predicted he'd overpower and beat Manny. Hindsight is seductive. People believe their own shit. Boxing is often about using up every last ounce of a man, even more so when he is still a marketable draw. In a year or two Pac will be beaten. They may prop him back up and another up and comer will again beat him. Half will call the newb a star, maybe even great. The other half will criticize and say "told you so", so as to take away from the achievement. It's a case of wash, rinse and repeat.
